This a list of stuff that I personally enjoy in Paris. So, take what works for you and ditch the rest. It includes some of my favorite spots for food, drinks and culture, and my proclivities towards neighborhoods, museums and day trips. I also include useful links to more exhaustive resources.

Day trips

Rouen
13th century medieval capital with timber architecture, where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake, tonnes of Monet, great vintage shopping, drink the cider, go to the iron museum (it’s really cool)

Reims
Capital of the Champagne region, Roman ruins, lots of medieval remnants, gorgeous, clean romantic city, exquisite cathedral (painted many, many times by Monet), drink the Champagne

Versailles
Louis XIV's globally transformational Baroque capital and palace, 800 hectares of royal landscape architecture, the Versailles market, Marie Antoinette's horrible peasant village, great bike rides

Fontainebleau
