Open for business!

The Dispatch, Issue No. 1

Rebel Paris Tours is officially open for business! I have poured myself into this idea since around November of last year and it is truly exciting to hit publish on this inaugural post.

I believe guiding is a service. I have met hundreds of people on tour from different backgrounds and belief systems and I am moved by how face-to-face storytelling, away from screens, focused on a shared moment, inspires and brightens and brings people together. I am so proud to build this business and share my enthusiasm for Paris with anyone interested in listening.

How did I get here…

I'm a graphic designer from New York. I moved to Paris in 2019 to work as the global brand art director for a unicorn scale-up tech company. For six years I worked in French tech until I had had quite enough indeed.

Under the suggestion of a dear friend, I made a choice to give bicycle tour guiding a shot. Play outside for the summer. Get out of the office. I joined the team at Fat Tire Tours in March 2025. The experience changed my life and brought me an incredible amount of joy and a feeling of purpose.

The team is a wonderful group of kind, fun, hardworking people from every corner of the world. In a city that isn’t exactly known for being warm and welcoming, I stumbled upon a community of nerds who are exactly that.

This feeling of community, not just within our team, but out on tour interacting with guides from other companies (waving, high-fiving, joking around) gave me a whole new perspective on how I could live my life. Rebel Paris Tours comes from the support, inspiration, sunshine, and exercise I’ve gotten from this wonderful guiding community.

Here are some photos from last year:

History as a service…

After an important trip to Rome several years ago, I realised I needed to better understand the place where I was now calling home—France. For a couple of years, I got a foundational footing here by following the path of the Romans. I fell in love with history.

I have benefited greatly by engaging with the deeper context of this very special place and it brings me so much joy to share that with others. On my tours, I tell the stories behind three groups of people: the Royals, the Revolutionaries and of course, the Rebels.

The rebels are the remarkable people making history behind the scenes, the lesser-known lives that changed the world and made Paris what it is today. Through these resonant stories, we can learn about major events and monuments in a way that’s a little more relatable and might just bring us closer together as fellow humans.

I can’t wait to introduce you to my first rebel. Moving forward, each issue of the Rebel Paris Dispatch will include a surprising history, a beautifully designed digital download, and a photo or two from Paris.

Also…

I am not on social media ⚔️ and this is my way of staying connected, sharing my community, and praying that you tell all your friends, family members and coworkers to book a tour with me.

Until next time—Jen
